I have looked at many of the items I see on Alibaba and the prices are much Higher than the same products I buy and Sell on eBay. On eBay I have developed suppliers for the things I sell and many times i can get the prices lower on eBay by bidding on items and snipping them at the last minute. With each individual item I get for less money I can make more money on each item. I do not have the goal to make mote than $1000.-2,000. per month.
With Alibaba I have to buy larger quantities of each item leading to larger shipments and pay for the shipping and import fees. (after $200.00) I do NOT usually have to pay for shipping on things I buy on eBay most of the time and I have never paid import fees. Saying that I have a lower cost per item so I either make more money selling it higher OR I can discount more bringing in MORE buyers.
I do think Alibaba would be a great way to buy and resale IF You are an established Seller, sell many of the same items etc. On Alibaba most Sellers have minimum order amounts that is problematic for me as I do not have the base to Sell the amounts to warrant such large purchases. What IF you get a pallet of junk that is Not sellable? Pictures can be very deceiving and You can easily be taken. So, I would recommend starting out slower. I have vetted My Suppliers over the years and know what I am getting. If I purchase a few bad single items I am not out much!
